DEEP DIVING & FOREST AT NIGHT – Adventure Tunnels Are Open now
On September 30, the new adventure tunnels Deep Diving and Forest At Night were officially opened by Dr. Eva Gebauer (Bionicum) and Prof. Dr. Jörg Overmann (SNSB). Around 100 guests attended and enjoyed an entertaining evening. A highlight was the captivating and vivid presentation by Prof. Dr. William Megill from Rhine-Waal University about his work as a marine biologist. Hannah Seiler, a student at Hof University, presented her project “Lumisense.” This project allows users to go on a virtual search for bioluminescent animals in the deep sea and the forest with the help of a magnifying glass.
What can you experience at the Bionicum now?
Deep Diving: The submarine takes you down to 4,000 meters into the deep sea. There, you’ll encounter fascinating creatures that look quite strange at first glance. But what seems unusual to us is essential for their survival: Creatures living in the extreme depths of the ocean need very special adaptations. And who knows—maybe we look strange to these animals, too, right?
Forest At Night: Amazing things await even in the darkness—and some of them even glow! Fireflies produce their own light, and scorpions fluoresce under UV light. And what else glows? Turn on your flashlight and head out on an expedition into the nighttime forest.
